Chic Finds the best looking skin on the market

Beauty, fashion

You can do a lot these days for wrinkles, sagging skin and deep seated lines in our faces but that healthy glow is harder to achieve. There are amazing preparation products that give your skin what it needs but how do you achieve that fresh dewy look with make up? Chic Finds LOVES the RMS make up brand. Like no others it has an amazing ingredient base of  coconut oil which is known for its natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which is why its so good for your skin and can actually help clear acne spots. We love the dewy, hydrated complexion that these organic ingredients promotes.  Depending on your skin tone you have a range of colours to choose from. Chicfinds uses a combination of 22 and 44.

If your set with your favourite foundation already then solid gold from RMS is the Master Mixer. An amazing product that reveales a luminous rose gold shade, with a delicate sparkly finish. No, we’re not talking chunky glitter here. RMS calls it the ‘Midas Touch’. Here is what the founder, Rosie Marie Swift of RMS said about Master Mixer; ’ “I have wanted to create a product like this for a long time, the one product I have been missing in my kit. The Master Mixer™ transforms any of my products with a perfect warm rose gold that is flattering on anyone. Used alone or mixed with my Living Luminizer, it effortlessly blends over the cheek bones, browbones, down the bridge of the nose, bow of the lips, and even the eye lid for a subtle, sexy gold shimmer. Magic truly happens when this product is combined to any of your lipsticks resulting in the most gorgeous, refined iridescence imaginable to your lips. Blends perfectly with powders or creams.”—Rose-Marie Swift, Brand Founder

One of the other beauties of this product is it is so easy to apply. It goes on the skin so well just using the fingers and there is no start and finish line. The aluminizes ;  Magic Luminize  are so natural that you don’t see where the fingers have been, just a natural looking dewy look that creates a healthy yet undone look.

All RMS products can be found at Mecca and Sephora. Definitely worth a look, Chicfinds is hooked on this product as the results are incredible and the price is acceptable.

Want to have a bit more luminosity? Grab some pieces for your summer wardrobe that you can wear and wear again without feeling repetitive. Love the sequin t-shirt to put back with cut off shorts, skinny denim, knee length skirt, black pant, list is never ending, it’s a must have. Below is sequin top By Chloe, now at Outnet. Another alternative that is also an all rounder for every occasion is the sequin jacket. Probably our favourite as you can put over a singlet, t-shirt, dress, you name it and it looks sharp and sexy. Velvet have the perfect one, Razi Sequins Mock jacket. A girl has to have a pair of sparkly shoes. They are so much fun and just make you feel like a girl all over. Gianvito Rossi shoes are top of the list at Chic finds. We have a couple of pairs that are on the wish list; Loving this sling back which also comes in black. Bit of a kitty cat shoe that suits everything and is comfortable. Alternatively we are dreaming about their Portofino Lamé 85 Heel. Here they are in Kaleido silver;

Feeling the love for glitter, sparkle and metallic all over!!! Now the finishing touch with the Alto Evening Bag from Whiting and Davis made from metal mesh.

We are back!

fashion

Chicfinds is back and we would like to begin to reengage you with our weekly or daily chic finds. Here is a couple of our current obsessions.

First on the list is Sezane. The brand is French and only sold online. From watching the product mix from season to season I recommend going for their knits which sell out in minutes and are gorgeous with a real point of different. The knits are amazing with v neck backs, sexy collars, knot ties and cardigans that dress up or dress down, wear at the front, wear to the back. I love also their boots and denim. My favourites are the Eduardo knit with the lace neckline. My second favourite is the Gaspard which has beautiful mother of pearl buttons on the back. Third favourite is the Marcel which comes in block colours and also a stripe. Love Love Love!

2nd obsession is stocking up on white t-shirts for every occasion. I have decided to pare back on tops and really have a staple wardrobe with great t-shirts. I think this has to be the hardest find. The top ones are amazing but for some they can be xxxy like Rag & Bone, Acne, Alexander Wang and James Pearce. The lower end ones just don’t cut it, H&M, Zara and others don’t get the crew neck right, nor the fabric, nor the fall. The in between is the 1960’s inspired jersey slim t-shirt from  https://shopredone.com/products/vintage-white-slim-tee which is called RE/DONE. It is around $78. See link for details; https://shopredone.com/products/vintage-white-slim-tee. Then for a more relaxed look I would go for the slim vintage neck t.shirt from Bassike, see link; https://www.bassike.com/women/organic-jersey/t-shirts/slim-vintage-neck-t-shirt-ss16wjt96-wht. They are quite long but a little bit tucked or left out suits this T. Another option is Velvet who have very nice long sleeve options. My choice would be Jemma crew neck; https://velvet-tees.com/women/velvet-tees-and-tops/tees/jemma-gauzy-whisper-crew-neck-tee-975433-1.html

As my core staple the t-shirt will go back with a maxi skirt, a great skinny jean with a blazer, with a mini and a cardigan and high heel for evening and a baggy black masculine fit pant. The best one to observe for the t-shirt outfit is Alexa Chung. Next post will give you ideas on shirting and some fabulous beauty finds.

ChicFinds Suitcase Rummage

Beautiful things, Eating, fashion

ChicFinds loves a market and Suitcase Rummage is a fantastic new concept.

Suitcase Rummage is a mini scaled market held all over Australia, Perth, Sydney, Queensland and more.

Here is their story;

“Our Story

Isabel FitzGerald and Daniele Constance started Suitcase Rummage over a cup of tea and a brainstorming session.

“We wanted to create an event that we wanted to attend ourselves. We wanted simplicity, we wanted beauty, we wanted local and we wanted community. We loved old suitcases and so the idea started to grow.SRB_2016_Web.jpg

There were also a few things that were important to us which we wanted to infuse into the project we were creating – that it was something to connect community; support local creative industries, design and production; encouraged sustainable practices; was accessible; and used place-making as a way of reinvigorating and creatively activating spaces. So, we came up with Suitcase Rummage which combined these and ultimately (and importantly) brought people ‘back to the town square’.SRJJ2016_Web.jpg

We also realised that there wasn’t a platform for emerging entrepreneurs to test their goods on the market before signing up to one of the bigger markets where vendors might need their own infrastructure, insurance and often need to cover high application fees. We saw a need for a step before this and believed Suitcase Rummage would fill this gap – supporting arts and culture, emerging entrepreuners and small business without the high risk.

At the time, we had heard Brisbane City Council was looking for ways to activate public spaces and so approached them with a few ideas. Council liked the idea and wanted to support it as a one off event as part of Youth Week 2010. We were blown away by the response to our first event – we ended up with 60 stalls and lots of attendees.IMG_0123.jpg

Since then, there has been so much wonderful support from the different local communities that Suitcase Rummage has now grown to be a regular, monthly event in Brisbane and Melbourne – both of which attract up to 150 stalls! We have also collaborated (and continue to collaborate) with a number of festivals including Home Festival, St Jeromes Laneway Festival, Surfers Paradise OneWay Street Festival, Jumpers & Jazz Festival in Warwick, and one-off vintage and community festivals. We’ve worked in partnership with Councils, venues, businesses and community organisations to deliver the various events.SRCposterWeb.jpg

Suitcase Rummage provides a platform and opportunity for creative ideas and initiatives to be planted, tested, nurtured and grown. There is a sense of community that comes with the event which people are drawn to. We believe that supporting and engaging with arts and cultural industries is vital to a healthy and connected community. What place doesn’t thrive when it has a flourishing arts and cultural industry?”

Go for a bargain, a swap, or an old fashioned haggle. Suitcase Rummage is not to be missed! Check out the coming event dates; http://suitcaserummage.com.au/about-2/

ChicFinds Career Advice

fashion

Five daily habits to advance your career by Michael Page

Successful people have certain qualities. But what are these desirable traits, and can they really further your career? The short answer is yes. Here are five simple and effective ways to better yourself and keep your career moving forward.

1) Surround yourself with smart people

You are the sum of your parts, and this goes for the company you keep as well. Spend time with intelligent people who challenge and advance your thinking. The ultimate entrepreneur, Richard Branson, is a big advocate for this, and the famous American industrialist Henry Ford, also once said, “I am not the smartest, but I surround myself with competent people.” Don’t be afraid to admit what you don’t know – and align yourself with someone who does.
image
Actively seek out passionate, successful individuals. Attend workshops or events that are specific to your field and join relevant professional groups. You can reach out to thought leaders or potential mentors through LinkedIn. Be realistic, choose someone in your industry/function that could take time out of their schedule to meet you. Once you have established contact it is easy to suggest a quick coffee. It really is that simple. People enjoy offering support and providing advice, provided they are approached in the right manner. By building your own personal community of inspiration, you will put yourself in the box seat to land career opportunities.

2) Picture your success

Numerous studies have proven that mental imagery readies your brain for success and increases your performance in real life. If you can see it, you can make it happen. It might sound far-fetched, but there is no denying that it works. Many famous athletes, actors, doctors and business people credit their accomplishments to using visualisation to help manifest their success. Jim Carrey wrote himself a cheque for $10m dated five years ahead and carried it in his wallet until he landed his role for Dumb and Dumber that – yes – paid him that $10m.

lara-mullen-lucy-evans-rosie-tapner-bydavid-slijper-for-vogue-japan-february-2015-6

Set aside a few minutes every morning to see yourself in your ideal career. Close your eyes, relax and imagine every single detail as if it were happening now. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? How are you feeling? What are you wearing? Banish any doubts if they arise and allow yourself to dream big. The more often you do this, the more purpose and direction you will have and the closer you will come to achieving your wildest dreams. Give it a try, it can’t hurt.

3) Hone your skills

It is as simple as it sounds. Sharpen one skill and make it your sword. Find out what you are good at and invest the time to become great at it. If you can show employers that you are an expert in something and can help them corner the market by being their expert, you will move from being simply a decent prospect to a must-have part of any company.
Keep your internet presence up to date and relevant. Try some of the following:
  • Write your own blog or guest post on an industry blog
  • Produce a five minute YouTube video showcasing your strengths (e.g. a ‘How-To’)
  • Tweet on a daily basis as an industry expert
  • Create and update your own professional website
  • Develop a podcast
  • Write and post relevant articles on LinkedIn
If you’re really keen you could even target potential employers with something tailored just for them, like this woman who created a resume for Airbnb.

5) Engage with one new person a day (or reconnect with someone)

Relationships are at the core of all success and happiness. People do business with people they like, and you can never have too many friends. When Bill Clinton was 22, he carried around a notebook and wrote down the names and particulars of everyone he met. His genuine interest in people, together with his vision for the future, led to his eventual inauguration as the president of the USA.
Carla-Zampatti-The-Social-Outfit

Leave your normal social circle and connect with people you’ve never met before. Connect through LinkedIn or email people who already have your dream job. Clearly describe how you can help them and why they should meet you. You would be surprised how many people are more than happy to catch up for a coffee – if you’re buying – and share their knowledge and expertise. Even consider hosting your own events with a colleague or starting your own group. In no time you will build a far reaching network of friends, followers, and thought leaders.

ChicFinds adds to the list of step, Icons. List your Icons, people that you admire and look up too. Figures that you have watched over the years and continued to have an assimilation with.

And lastly stay away from negative people. People that don’t know what it is to earn their own money and have a career. Always be careful where and from who you get your advise as its freely given often by those non the wiser.

Chicfinds inspiration from an Australian designer

fashion

Ellery_003_2000_304x456

Ellery is the first Australian designer to really catch my eye. I have liked some designers in the past but not in the way I like Ellery. Her aesthetic is unique and has depth. It was this Resort 15 collection that put her on my radar. Kim is a beautiful girl who I noticed when at Russh Magazine (http://www.russhmagazine.com/).  Until her Resort 15 collection I found her designs to be too angular and her fabric heavy and irrelevant to our market. As much as I liked her style I couldn’t really get her designs. They looked like they were trying to hard to stand out from the crowd but they were not translating commercially.

14

Ellery’s Resort 15 collection changed my conception. Effortless designs with a real point of difference. Clever lengths, arms and fabrics. Shirting that stood out from the crowd and commanded a high price point but worth every cent.  Shoulders still in evidence but commercially clever rather than being so avant guard. The layering and panels make shape and the body is no longer relevant as the clothes do the job of creating the shape. This is the beauty of Ellery. Her clothes do an amazing job in dressing the body and creating form and shape.

18

Chicfinds Ellery to be a innovative creation for all sizes and especially suited to plus size. Its a chic plus size brand. As much as the designs look amazing on thin arms and tall silhouettes, its very suited to a short size 18. The fabrics sit off the body and create their own shape. It’s an Australian label which is unique in the sense that its not about body. Its about the design and the fabric.

Fall 15 offers some beautiful coats, jackets and skirts;http://www.elleryland.com/collection-current.html

It is not a economical find but its a worthwhile one as the fabric and designs are timeless and unique.
